Some Classrooms Do Not Have Four Walls

Students were not simply being told how industries work. They were meeting the people, technologies and institutions shaping them.

Dr. Ashish Pandharipande speaking about Edge AI and Large Language Models

When Edge AI Met Large Language Models. At VNRVJIET, the Department of CSE (Data Science) hosted Dr. Ashish Pandharipande, Distinguished Lecturer with the IEEE Sensors Council, Technical Director at NXP and Part-Time Professor at Eindhoven University of Technology. Around 120 students explored the convergence of Edge AI and Large Language Models - two technologies likely to influence the future of computing, connected devices and intelligent systems.

Science, First-Hand. B.Tech (IT) students visited the CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute, gaining exposure to geophysical research and advanced technologies through interaction with scientists.

Learning the Business of Food. At VJIM, Agribusiness students visited IIMR-Nutri Hub, exploring the millet value chain, food processing, entrepreneurship and market innovation. The visit allowed concepts such as value chains and market linkages to move from slides to real operating environments.

Alumni Become Teachers Again. VJIM alumni returned to campus for two specialised sessions. Varun Vardhan Athelli, Class of 2008-10, helped students understand project management through real-world scenarios. Rajitha Edara, Class of 2014-16, brought practical corporate experience into a session on restructuring strategies. There is something distinctive about alumni teaching current students. They understand both sides of the classroom.

Business, Innovation and the Art of the Pitch. At VJIM, ECONNX - Business Summit 2026, organised by the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, gave students hands-on exposure to real-world business challenges, strategic problem-solving and live business pitching. The emphasis was clear: ideas matter, but the ability to test, articulate and defend them matters just as much.

Global Exposure, New-Age Ideas. Students from VJIM represented the institute at the YO GRAD 250: Global Minds Summit, where AI, innovation and entrepreneurship came together through hackathons, business idea pitching and interactions with global academic experts.

AI - with Responsibility. At VJIAS, a two-part workshop led by Sai Satish, Founder and CEO of Indian Servers, explored AI tools including ChatGPT, Gemini, Kling AI, Suno, Gamma, Future Tools and Hugging Face. It also turned the discussion towards cybersecurity: a live smartphone demonstration showed how privacy risks can emerge in everyday digital behaviour, with two-factor authentication, strong passwords, permissions, online scams and responsible communication part of the conversation.

Looking at Earth From Above. For Classes VIII and IX students of VJPS, an educational visit to the National Remote Sensing Centre opened a window into satellite technology - how imagery contributes to weather forecasting, agriculture, disaster management and environmental monitoring. For a school student, such exposure can transform an abstract chapter into something much more powerful: Possibility.

Preparing for Careers. At VJJC, a team from Deloitte, through United Way Hyderabad, conducted a session on communication skills, career guidance and resume building. Alongside this, dedicated revision and academic-support sessions were initiated for Quarterly Examinations, with individual attention for students requiring additional assistance.

Teachers Learning for Tomorrow. At VJPS, Computer Department teachers attended Pedagogy 4.0 - Teaching for the Digital Age, while the school also hosted a CBSE Centre of Excellence Capacity Building Programme for teaching staff, focusing on effective pedagogy and improving the student learning experience.
